Lavandin Grosso (Lavandula hybrida) is a hybrid plant obtained from crossing lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and spike lavender (Lavandula latifolia). Lavandin Grosso essential oil is obtained from its flowers through steam distillation.

Origin:

Lavandin Grosso is a hybrid plant developed at the end of the 19th century in France, where it is still cultivated for the production of essential oil.

Properties:

Lavandin Grosso essential oil is pale yellow in color and has a fresh, herbaceous and floral aroma. Among its main chemical components are linalool, linalyl acetate, camphor and cineole. Relaxing, calming, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties are attributed to it.

Use:

Lavandin Grosso essential oil is used in aromatherapy to relieve anxiety, stress and depression, and to improve sleep quality. It is also used in the perfumery and cosmetics industry to produce products such as creams, lotions, soaps and fragrances. In addition, it is used in the manufacture of cleaning products and in the food industry as a flavoring.

Obtaining method:

Lavandin Grosso essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the fresh flowers of the plant. The flowers are picked first thing in the morning, before the sun gets too hot, and undergo a distillation process in which the essential oil is separated from the plant's water. The essential oil is collected in a separate container and filtered to remove impurities.
