Vetiver essential oil is obtained from the roots of the plant Vetiveria zizanoides, also known as khus herb. It is a perennial herb found mainly in the tropical regions of India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
Method of production: Vetiver essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the dried and crushed roots of the plant. Approximately 500 kg of dried roots are needed to obtain 1 kg of essential oil.
